What are the current requirements for welfare/food stamps? Do they vary by state or are they national? Does anyone have links to websites (official/informative not blogs) that show requirements and how much is given out?

I’m doing a school project on welfare abuse and how to minimize it, so if anyone has facts (with sources, no opinions please) on that, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!
