Question by Heather S: Someone close to me has a drinking problem. They have tried AA in the past and it did not work.?
What other options are there in CA
Best answer:
Answer by Mickie
You can’t make anyone quit. If AA didn’t work for them it’s because they truly weren’t motivated to quit in the first place. It requires a lot of will power to stop any habit as well as a lot of support. They can get in-patient detox, but if they’re over the age of 18, then they need to willingly do it. Other than that there’s nothing you can force them to do. They have to want to get sober.
In the meantime, you can go to Al-Anon which is for friends/family of alcoholics. Perhaps some therapy. Lastly, to save your own sanity, you may have to cut ties with this person until they can get themselves together.

Question by julygirl75038: Which person is dead? (For radio trivia)?
1. Betty Ford (Wife of former US president Gerald Ford, founded “The Betty Ford Center” for the treatment of alcoholism)
2. Joe Garagiola (Former catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, “Today Show” host, TV game show host, commentator)
3. Rex Reed (Film critic)
4. Bob Dole (Longtime US senator from Kansas, presidential candidate in 1996)
I tried Rex Reed for the radio trivia…..it was the incorrect answer…he’s still alive. Joe G was the answer for the radio trivia……even though he is still alive.
I checked the site www.deadoralive.com and it says that all of them are alive….so I guess this was an invalid question on the radio stations.
