So there was a news report the other day saying “the tragic suicide of a teen” and it angered me. Not that the teen killed himself, but that the media always calls it tragic. I think maybe the word pathetic would be better. The death of a husband or wife in the middle of the night is tragic, the loss of a child to disease or accident is tragic. The choice of someone to die because life is hard is pathetic. One of the worse “Tragic death” comments was about Curt Cobain, it wasn’t tragic it was pathetic and down right stupid. I can understand feeling sorry for the family and friends of these selfish twits, but why would anyone feel sorry for them?
EDIT: I have suffered clinical depression since before anyone knew what Prozac was, I was bullied in high school as much as that teen girl was and about a year ago I woke up with my wife dead beside me.

I think the tragedy is for the family and friends of the person who committed suicide. Death is never tragic for the person who is involved…it is tragic for anybody who is left behind without answers, to deal with the sudden absence of a loved one. So it is very tragic indeed.
