Question by sypher88: So I just got out of drug rehab, and was recently prescribed xanax.?
I was recently in drug rehab from June 1st, until July 5th for opiate addiction. I have been attending AA/NA meetings twice a day since my discharge from rehabilitation.
I have been having extreme anxiety and went to the doctor. I told her I was a recovering drug addict, but she still recommended i take xanax over buspar (the non addictive anti anxiety agent). Xanax has been the ONLY drug that works for my anxiety. I was originally prescribed this before going to rehab, and they took it away from me. Is it wrong that I take this medication if its the only drug ive tried that works?
I also have tried : zoloft, welbutrin, paxil, buspar, and many more.

I would suggest listening to you’re doctor because she seems to know what agrees with you, although you don’t wanna become addicted to xanax now that you have just recovered from a different addiction, if you really have such anxiety i would just say to take the xanax but in moderation.
